
Stop wishing - start getting
If you don't know what you want, you probably won't get it
How often have you complained that things aren't that great in your life? How many times have you noticed the things that you wish were different?
But when was the last time you thought about what it is that you WOULD like happening in your life? I mean, really knew the details of what would make you happier? What is your ideal situation? (There is no need to settle here, people - but we'll address that in another article.)
Most people focus on what is missing, going wrong, not happening, not working - and then they stop. While, yes, it is important to know where the parts are that you'd like to improve, it is also important to realize that if you don't know where it is you'd like to be instead, then getting there is pretty much impossible. It is not possible to offer a solution to a problem if you can't clearly define what the desired outcome is.
So you don't like the way your relationship is functioning (or mal-functioning) these days or you are tired of your job. Have you thought about what your ideal relationship is like or what your dream job is?
If you don't know what you want, you probably won't get it.
When you have clarity and focus as usable tools in your everyday life, it is much simpler to live in happiness - and isn't that the point, to be happy?
By developing clearer thinking and a focus of what you want, you can then apply these principles to not only set your own goals, but to more easily help yourself reach them.
My homework to each and every one of you is to spend ten minutes after reading this article and make a list of some of your goals. Most of you probably think of these things on a daily basis as “wishes”. Stop just “wishing” for something and start to make it happen.
Wishes can come true – you just have to apply some effort (i.e. clarity and focus – are you beginning to see a pattern here?!) Don’t worry if these goals seem outside of your reach at the moment or if you don’t know how you are going to achieve them – the first step is establishing what it is that you would like most in your life. After all, if you don’t know what you want, you probably won’t get it, remember?
And I want all of you to get whatever it is your hearts desire most – and even more. Don’t you?
